"Suur laine" on sarja esimene ja tuntuim teos

"36 vaadet Fuji mäele" (jaapani keeles 富嶽三十六景 Fugaku Sanjūrokkei) on Jaapani ukiyo-e koolkonna kunstniku Katsushika Hokusai puugravüüride sari. Kõik puugravüürid kujutavad erinevatest paikadest ja erinevatel aastaaegadel vaadet Fuji mäele. Teoste esiplaanil on kujutatud enamasti jaapanlaste igapäevaelu. Sarja põhiteemaks oli illustreerida inimeste ja looduse suhet. Kuna esimesed 36 teost osutusid niivõrd populaarseteks, tegi Hokusai sarjale juurde veel kümme gravüüri. Sarja esimene teos on "Suur laine", mida peetakse Jaapani kunsti üheks kõige tuntumaks näiteks.

Fuji mägi on olnud populaarne teema Jaapani kunstis tänu selle kultuurilisele ja religioosele tähtsusele. Fuji mägi on jaapanlastele olnud muutumatuse sümboliks. Hokusai alustas sarja loomist 1830. aastal, mil ta oli umbes 70-aastane. Sari avaldati aastatel 18311833. Esimesel 36 teosel olid kontuurjooned tehtud Preisi sinisega, kuid kümne viimase juures kasutas Hokusai musti kontuurjooni, mis muutsid gravüüride värve täielikult. Sarjale "36 vaadet Fuji mäele" järgnes veel sari "100 vaadet Fuji mäele", mis avaldati aastatel 18341835. Selles sarjas olevad gravüürid olid erinevalt eelmistest must-hallid.

Sama pealkirja kannab ka teise jaapani puulõikekunstniku Hiroshige sari. Hokusai sarjast said mõjutusi paljud läänemaailma kunstnikud, näiteks Vincent van Gogh, Édouard Manet, Edgar Degas ja Claude Monet. Prantsuse kunstnik Henri Rivière tegi Hokusailt inspireerituna sarja "36 vaadet Eiffeli tornile".
